                                              Chapter Six: Class Schedule

A week had passed since Lex first met Pyra, and things seemed to be going well for the two new friends. Though things were beginning to get a little hectic for the young teenager as he dealt with a little bit more than just friends and homework. His mother began to harp on him a lot lately on his new girlfriend, telling him that he would not be seeing her as much as he had been doing before. Every time she brought up the subject however, he was too embarrassed to talk about it, and always veered away from the conversation. Lex tried to focus on other things, like the different classes that seemed to be suffocating him. He could do all of the work easily, but with constant homework and some tests he had to study for, he found the constant nags to be a little overwhelming. His mother had told him that this would be normal, and he should try a new approach at trying to study and getting work done in the class.

In first period...

Lex sighed lowly as he looked up at the terms that were on the projector. He began to slowly copy them down without fully paying too much attention to what he was writing. He usually blanked his mind or thought about something else when copying down terms from the board. He slowly turned around and glanced at some of the students behind him. Most students were copying down the terms quickly into their notebooks, saving the definitions for the day that they would need them. A few had their face resting on the back of their arms, turned to one way and sleeping silently away as the teacher continued to look through her book. Some seemed to be writing other things down and to Lex it seemed as if they were making doodles and drawing something. The grey fox sighed as he looked forward and continued writing down the terms. 'Just another boring day...' he thought to himself.

      "Hey Lex..."

Lex slowly turned to see Midnight glancing slightly at him.

      "Yeah what's up?"

"What's the reason for writing down these terms again? I know a site where we can just look them up and print them out at the library... it won't cost us any money or effort and they have the correct terms."

Lex thought about it and then looked at the board. Then he slightly glanced at Ms. Lingle who was flipping the next page to her novel that she was reading. 'Yeah, seems she's laying back today herself, that's not like Ms. Lingle.' Lex thought.

"That's a great plan, that's what we'll do next time this situation comes up."

The black fox nodded and then turned back towards the board, 'That would save me a lot of time for me to do a little writing to myself anyways...' he thought to himself.

In third period...
The grey fox looked absently at the board as the teacher continued writing numbers on it. The class began to quietly write down the equation from the board onto their notebook papers and solve the problems. Lex looked at Deonne and noticed that she was working hard. This was one of the rare times Lex was stumped on a problem, and he glanced at the teacher to see if he was occupied. Mr. Barrows' back was turned to him and he was still writing stuff on the board. Lex leaned over and decided to ask Deonne for some help on a certain problem.

"Hey Deonne... do you know the method to solve..."

"Mr. Prower, it's cheating to ask for answers on any work that you are doing."

"No listen Mr. Barrows, I wasn't asking for answers..."

Deonne quickly cut in as she saw that the teacher was not really listening to him.

"Mr. Barrows, he was trying to ask for the method... he wasn't trying to copy my answers."

The teacher eyed the grey feline and then silently walked away from the two. Lex let out a sigh of relief and then smiled at Deonne.

"Thanks, wouldn't want him to get the wrong idea."

Deonne smiled and then began to write some of her answers down.

"Well no one said that work was gonna be easy."

In fifth period...
Lex fiddled with his pencil as he looked at his textbook, 'Could help if I knew which chapter we're supposed to look over.' the grey fox thought to himself. He couldn't believe that Mr. Trelvelli had given the students so many assignments, now he was confused on what he should work on. He slowly skipped the first chapter he assumed he needed to work on, and began to study the chapter that he was sure the teacher announced with the other chapters. Shea slowly scooted towards Lex and then leaned towards him. Shea along with Kio and another guy were assigned in a group together. Most of the class had groups separated throughout the rest of the room. Shea nudged Lex as she pointed at a page in the book.

"Hey Lex, I'll get chapter two done if you can get chapter three."

The grey fox glanced over at the pink hedgehog's light blue eyes and then looked down at her paper.

"Well that's a coincidence I started on chapter three then. What about you Kio?"

"Well, I'll take chapter four, if that's fine with you guys. I kinda like the material that's in it myself."

The fourth member of their group was a yellow canine with grey eyes and a short and stubby tail. "I'll get the terms copied that we need for the assignment."

"Thanks Terry, that would be a good help."

In seventh period...
Lex looked around slightly to see many females stretching while wearing the green shorts and white T-shirt uniform. The grey fox basically saw their figure for what they really are, and began to slightly wonder how they were able to hide their charms for so long. They all sat on the waxed wood floor and then saw the coach quickly come out of a door wearing the same outfit and a whistle dangling near his chest. He immediately walked into the middle of the gym floor and then blew his whistle.

      "Spread 'em!"

The whole group of students spread their legs and then reached towards their toes to stretch. Lex was so used to the advanced training that his mother gave him that he found this quite easy and showed no effort.

"Hey Prower, you can do better than that."

Lex looked up from his small daze to see a jaguar with a ponytail. He remembered seeing the jaguar earlier and then began to think hard to wonder where he had seen him before. He didn't recognize him from any of his classes, but he was sure he had seen him in a classroom before. Suddenly he noticed that coach was looming over the jaguar.

"Eric... stop talking during the warm-up."

Lex then remembered where he had seen the jaguar, and why he remembered hearing the name. He was in his homeroom and he was the one who had fired the spitball at the teacher.

"Well Eric, I actually know I can do much better, but there's no real reason for me to warm up, I'm pretty loose at the moment."

After a few minutes of warming up, the class soon stood up and then began to walk around aimlessly.

"Alright class, now I want you to grab a basketball and show me some layups."

Lex looked around the gym and noticed that Pyra was looking around nervously. The grey feline glanced at the students around her and noticed that they weren't as nervous as her.

"Basketball? I haven't even touched one before... I'm not sure I'm gonna be good at this..."

Lex walked slowly to her and then smirked before placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Awww Pyra it's easy. Look I'll show you when I get the ball. Don't be so nervous, you'll be fine."

Pyra glanced over to Lex and then back in front of her, a little flustered to the talk of confidence. She smiled as she thought about it more and considered that she might be decent at the game.

"Well thanks, I'm sure it won't be half as bad as I think."

The next day in first period...
Lex looked at the TV screen as they watched a program that the class was supposed to be viewing that day. He was in a Street Law Ed. class and it was a requirement for the freshman class. The video explained about the different laws and rules about the country they were in as well as the different things that were going on around in the area. Coach Lee was the instructor of the class and he was quite strict, but at times he could be very easy going and easy to get along with. Lex began to write down information that he had been gathering from the video, mainly due to their assignment, which was to review what they had seen into a summary and turn it in.

A brown echidna with dark brown eyes and flowing black hair that reached to her cheeks, glanced over at Lex and then tapped his shoulder.

"Hey... what was that one law that it showed about twenty minutes into the video?"

Lex looked down at his paper and then quickly looked at the brown echidna.

"It's the bearing of arms law."

The echidna quickly wrote it down and then looked back up at the fox with a grin.

"Thank you so much, I really needed that one."

      "I'm Lex by the way."

"Deena, and nice to meet ya."

In third period...
Lex began to look at the keyboard that he was typing at and then saw the teacher looming over him.

"You'll get the hang of it, you need to get your hands synchronized with the words, so you won't have to look at the keyboard later. It helps in the long run, trust me."

"Well Mrs. Stow, I'm trying my best, hopefully I will be able to get the hang of looking at the screen instead of at the keyboard."

The grey fox continued doing the small typing exercises to help his typing speed and synchronizing pattern. 'I'll get used to this, I have to, if I plan on typing fast information here and there.' the fox thought to himself.

During lunch...
A dark grey feline sat beside Lex as he looked up at the sky. She flipped her jet black hair over her should quickly as her attention fell onto the fox.

"Lex you seem a little out of it, been a bit busy with all that school work huh? It gets to ya after a while."

"Well no one said it would be easy. Something I'm sure you said yesterday..."

"It's quite surprising that you have all this work to do and can remember quotes that I gave. Quite a talent if I do say so myself."

"You are looking at a unique individual."

"The unique individual who almost ran his mother's car into a parked vehicle last week?"

"Shhh, it didn't happen like that. It ran into me I swear."

He took another bite of his chicken sandwich and picked up a couple of fries. 'Lunch has to be the best time to just kick back and relax. Without this little break, who knows what students would have to go through with all that work.' he thought to himself. He picked up his milk carton and then began to drink.

In fifth period...
Lex flipped a page in his English textbook and then looked over to his right to see a female red bunny concentrating on the book in front of her. Her left eye was a dark brown and her right eye was an aqua green. It was quite a unique coloration that Lex found interesting. He was sure that it was the harmless condition of Heterochromia. She had long red hair that flowed down to her back. She was also wearing a light blue shirt with a purple ruffle skirt along with pink boots to match her colorful outfit. She glanced quickly over at Lex breaking into a light smile.

"Well, this passage seems to be interesting."

Lex turned towards the page that the red rabbit had mentioned and noticed that it was a certain paragraph from the story they were reading for class. He began to review it quickly as his eyes skimmed through it and then looked back up at her.

"You're right Lilly, I find it interesting that the humans were quite shocked that the birds in their world just went haywire and started attacking."

The two continued reading the short story for their assignment and then Lilly began to giggle.

"Maybe it's because the birds were finally tired of being thrown rice."

Lex crossed his arms and then nodded, 'The humans during their time on Earth were quite weird.' he thought to himself.

In seventh period...
Lex sat at one of the cafeteria tables writing the answers to his math homework silently. He was currently in Study Hall and he decided to use this time wisely in order to get most of his work done. He liked having his free time later on during the day after school. Some teachers argued that it was specifically called homework for a reason, but he didn't care, he found any free time during the school hours useful to start and finish his homework when needed.

"Hey... hey Lex, check what new manga issue I got this week."

He quickly cut his eyes to glance up from his work and saw an orange fox with grey eyes. He seemed to be physically built, as if he had been using the gym properly before he went to high school. Something told Lex that this guy made sure nobody picked on him for his interest in comics. Lex saw the book that he was waving slightly in front of him as if it was an antidote to something. The grey fox slowly took the manga book and then began to flip through the pages silently. He started to read through it and then nodded, liking what he was seeing.

"Tony, how come these things are formatted to be read from right to left though? I never understood that."

"It's because it's from another country and in their style they go from right to left. Over here in Omina it's from left to right. So it's different from regular comics. It's an identical technique used in Japan by the humans during their OIL era on Earth."

Lex soon realized that he was going to have to quickly do something about the manga issue and his homework, because both seemed to be on the top list of his things to do in Study Hall and they weren't working quite well together.

                                                        To Be Continued
There really can't be a real summary here about the chapter I don't think, it's just about Lex's class schedule and some of his friends in his class. (This is also a part where others can decide where they would like to put their characters in if they would like to be a part of this series) This was really made to show friends, and what his schedule is. Also, I will explain fully in a journal to the reason WHY I've decided to do such a filler chapter. It's probably random to you, but very important to me.

it may be a filler but it fits in quite well!i liked how you set up the schedule and how the characters interacted along with how certain people learned certain stuff. and i also liked that part about the story The Birds. great way to fill things in at the moment of the story.
